  • Ancylis spiraeifoliana (Clemens, 1860) is a justified emendation of A. spireaefoliana (Clemens, 1860). Gilligan & Brown (in Pohl & Nanz (eds.) 2023) erroneously included A. spiraeifoliana Walsingham (1879) as a synonym following Hodges et al. (1983) (Checklist). Per McDunnough (1955), it was in fact Zeller (1875) who proposed the name spiraeifoliana as a replacement for spireaefoliana Clemens 1860, an original misspelling intended to be based on the host plant Spiraea opulifolius. In addition to the error of authorship, listing separately was unnecessary since it was a justified emendation. These errors were addressed by Pohl & Nanz (2025).
