Larva and Host Plants: Betula (birch). Description/ Field Marks: See Heinrich (1926) (zelleriana) and Zeller (1875) (nitidanum). Similar Species: 51a0552.1 Olethreutes betulana Pinned specimens of related species. (Hint: select View by Region on the related species page.) Synonymy: trepidulum (Heinrich, 1926) (Exartema) REV. STAT.; TL: Hampton, N.H. diallacta (Meyrick, 1932) (Argyroploce); TL: Maine. nitidana of Zeller, 1875; (not Clemens, 1860) (Exartema) misid. zelleriana (Fernald, 1882) (Eccopis) nom. nud. - MONA 1983: 2783; Lectotype: Maine. Note: Lectotype designated by Miller (1970). Taxonomic Notes: Olethreutes diallacta (Meyrick, 1932) is a replacement name for zelleriana Fernald (preoccupied by zelleriana Erschoff, 1874). Fernald proposed zelleriana for nitidana of Zeller, 1875; (not Clemens, 1860) but his description applied to twos species, one a feeder of Betula alba and another of Viburnum cassinoides.
