Distribution: "Probably widespread across most of the northern USA and southern Canada from western Oregon,Washington, and British Colombia east to Ontario and Maine." - Davis & Stonis (2007) Larva and Host Plants: Gooseberry (Ribes spp.). The common name "Gooseberry Barkminer" was erroneously applied to P. quardristrigella originally due to misidentification in Grossenbacher (1910). Description/ Field Marks: See Davis & Stonis (2007), Smithson. Contr. Zool., 625: 42; figs. 10,11, 21, 25, 26, 32, 36, 42, 91-108,136, 259, 260, 424,425. Genitalia: See Davis & Stonis (2007) Similar Species: Pinned specimens of related species. (Hint: select View by Region on the related species page.) Synonymy: scioterma (Meyrick, 1920) (Opostega) - MONA 1983: 125; Holotype: Toronto, ON. nonstriga; Heppner, 2003 (Opostegoides) mispp. of nonstrigella; misid.; TL: (no type). Note: "Heppner pointed out the misidentification of nonstrigella by Grossenbacher, but misspelled the name asnonstriga." (Pohl & Nanz 2025). nonstrigella of Grossenbacher, 1910; (not Chambers, 1881) (Opostega) misid. quadristrigella of authors; (not Chambers, 1875) (Opostega) missp.; misid.; TL: (no type).
