Adults normally complete 1-2 generations and are present in April-May and June-July. Forewing length ranges 5.5-8.5 mm. |

Larvae are polyphagous, feeding on representatives of the Asteraceae, Betulaceae (birch), Ericaceae (blueberries), Fabaceae, Pinaceae (pine, spruce), Poaceae (corn), Rosaceae (apple, apricot), Rutaceae (citrus), Vitaceae (grapes) and other families. |
Description/
Field Marks: |
Forewing ground color varies from silvery white to pale yellowish brown. Well defined median fascia and pre-apical spot, reddish brown in color. Male forewing without costal fold. |
| Similar Species: |
- Similar to other Argyrotaenia, genitalic dissection necessary to distinguish from A. velutinana and A. pinatubana. A. ljungiana lacks a distal projection originating from the median sclerotized portion of the valve; this projection is present in A. velutinana. In A. pinatuba the uncus is broader and expanded distally relative to A. ljungiana.
