Host Plants: |
Larvae feed on members of the Rosaceae, forming round blotch mines on the upper surface of leaves and leaving behind a spiral frass pattern . Leaf mines not always constrained between secondary leaf veins. Larvae have been recorded on Betula pendula (Silver birch) and members of the Rosaceae, including Crataegus spp. (Hawthorne), Malus pumila (Apple), Prunus avium (Sweet cherry), Prunus domestica (Plum), Prunus persica (Peach), Prunus cerasus (Sour cherry), and Pyrus communis (European pear). |
Description/
Field Marks: |
Basal half of the forewing shiny white, meeting a yellow-orange fascia outlined with brownish-black scales. Wing fringe with several black streaks originating from an orange spot, near the apex, which rests above a black patch broken by a white line down the middle. |
