Larvae feed on on Solanum tuberosum (Potato). There is a dichotomous key to Gelechiidae on Solanaceae in Florida and the Gulf Coast region available here |
Description/ Field Marks: |
Females are brown with light brown longitudinal streaks on the forewing. Males are smaller and dark brown or brownish-gray in color. Males also have strong longitudinal lines and are also marked with "two stigmata" (spots on the forewing), whereas females have three stigmata. |
Similar Species: |
- Tecia solanivora is recognized by its large size and forewing pattern consisting of two grayish-black spots in the discal cell and a gray-black longitudinal streak extending from the median fifth to the preapex.
