Distribution: Florida (Hodges, 1986), southern California (BOLD), Arizona (Barman et al. 2021). Similar Species: 2284.1 Dichomeris nenia has a row of gray scales above the eyes, not orange as in acuminata. Pinned specimens of related species. Synonymy: acuminatus Staudinger 1876 (Mesophleps); Type locality: Valdesi, near Palermo, Sicily ammoxanthus Meyrick 1904 (Ypsolophus) ianthes Meyrick 1887 (Hypsolophus) lotellus Constant 1893 (Ypsolophus) ochrophanes Meyrick 1907 (Ypsolophus) rusticus Walsingham 1892 (Ypsolophus)
