ochroleucana (Frölich, 1828) (Tortrix) - MONA 1983: 2861; TL: Germany, Wrtemburg.consanguinana (Walsingham, 1879) (Penthina); TL: California.contrariana (Walker, 1863) (Penthina); TL: Canada. Nova Scotia.nimbatana (Clemens, 1860) (Antithesia); TL: Massachusetts. |
Taxonomic Notes: |
Hedya ochroleucana (Frölich, 1828) was treated as extralimital (Palearctic) based on DNA evidence in Gilligan et al. (2020) with "ochroleucana" from NA referring to two separate valid biologic species. Gilligan & Brown (in Pohl & Nanz (eds.) 2023) proposed the placeholder name "Hedya ochroleucana of authors; (not Frölich, 1828)" for the NA species with all synonyms of ochroleucana described from NA as placeholder synonyms. With valid NA synonyms available, Pohl & Nanz (2025) found it more appropriate to retain the name Hedya ochroleucana (Frölich, 1828) for both populations pending further study to confirm the status of ochroleucana and those NA synonyms. |
