Distribution: This species is not known to naturally occur north of Mexico. Synonymy: saltitans (Westwood, 1858) (Carpocapsa) EXCL.; DOMEST. - MONA 1983: [NEW]; TL: Mexico. deshaisiana (Lucas, 1858) (Carpocapsa) (domest.; excl.) - MONA 1983: [3493] Taxonomic Notes: [Grapholitini - new genus 1] saltitans (Westwood, 1858), rev. stat. (Gilligan et al., 2020), replaces Cydia deshaisiana (Lucas, 1858), nomen nudum (unavailable - a name published without a valid description). This species, a member of "Clade 1" in Hu et al. (2023), is misplaced in Cydia and may belong in Ethelgoda (Hu et al., 2023:367) (new since Pohl & Nanz (eds.) (2023)). This species is listed as excluded (occurring in NA only in domestication) by Gilligan & Brown (in Pohl & Nanz (eds.) 2023) but is included here for reference purposes.
