Similar Species: Pinned specimens of related species. (Hint: select View by Region on the related species page.) Synonymy: albicostellus (Fernald, 1888) (Schoenobius) - MONA 1983: [NEW] uniformellus (Dyar, 1917) (Schoenobius) Taxonomic Notes: Donacaula albicostellus (Fernald, 1888), listed as a subspecies of Donacaula melinellus (Clemens, 1860) in Hodges et al. (1983) (Checklist), is informally raised to full species status in Martinez (2010) (dissertation). This treatment is accepted by Hayden & Scholtens (in Pohl & Nanz (eds.) 2023).
