Distribution: USA: Southern CA, southern AZ, southernmost TX; Mexico: Oaxaca. Similar Species: Hypenopsis macula (Druce, 1891) is not found in Southwest but possible overlap in southern TX. Hypenopsis calusa Landry & Landry, 2023) is not found in Southwest but does extend to southernmost TX. Pinned specimens of related species. (Hint: select View by Region on the related species page.) Synonymy: sonora Landry & Landry, 2023 (Hypenopsis)   Type locality: Holotype: Tierrasanta, San Diego, CA. Taxonomic Notes: Hypenopsis sonora Landry & Landry, 2023, n. sp., Rev. suisse zool., 130(2): 373; figs. 7, 28­-29, 37­-38, 49.
