Distribution: West and north of Great Basin. Disjunct population in Cypress Hills of Alberta and Saskatchewan. Coniferous forests, in particular but not confined to Douglas-fir forests. Elevations ~ sea-level to near tree-line.

Description/
Field Marks:
Highly variable in both size and color.
Similar Species:
  • See also 9181 P. gigantea, 9177 P. acronyctoides nigra.

      Type locality: Portland, OR.

  • Taxonomic Notes: Panthea virginarius: Includes as synonyms Panthea portlandia [9179] and Panthea angelica [9180].
