Distribution: Lower Rio Grande Valley, Texas possibly to Florida. Similar Species: Pinned specimens of related species. (Hint: select View by Region on the related species page.) Synonymy: sp. 1 ([no author], [no date]) Taxonomic Notes: Aethesoides sp. 1 is a cryptic, possibly undescribed species is the first representative of the genus from north of Mexico, two males collected in Liberty, TX by S.J. Marcus dissected by Hugh McGuinness who also dissected several more specimens ranging from Texas to Florida, though it is uncertain if more that one species might be involved.
