Description/ Field Marks: |
Olethreutes auricapitana, a fern feeding species, typically has a pair of antemedial costal striae, mostly silver, abruptly fused, forming an outwardly angled "V" shape terminating at 1/3 the distance to the dorsal margin and followed by one or two silver spots, the furthest and largest at 1/2 the distance to the dorsal margin. Opposite this pair of costal striae near the dorsal margin lies a silver spot. A smaller spot is often present between the dorsal spot and the cell. Costal striae lack white scales at costal margin. Labial palpi tend to be uniformly gold with a few brown scales visible in some specimens. |
