Description/ Field Marks: |
Specimens in BOLD BIN group AAB4022 are treated here as Olethreutes deprecatoria following Gilligan et al. (2020). These are all from around the Vancouver-Seattle area not far from the type locality. Most are misidentified as Orthotaenia undulana. One male "Syricoris lacunana", sample 1209626A19Jun1998, has genitalia which seems to match that which was illustrated by Heinrich (1926). Based on DNA barcode, this group appears to represent a separate species near Syricoris lacunana which also has similar male genitalia. The species page at BOLD for deprecatoria contains several specimens from the northeast which appear to be misidentified. - Steve Nanz (10/7/2021) |
