Distribution: USA: southern FL; Cayman Islands; Haiti; Jamaica. Description/ Field Marks: See Koster (2010) Genitalia: See Koster (2010) Similar Species: Pinned specimens of related species. (Hint: select View by Region on the related species page.) Synonymy: abnormalis Walsingham, 1897 (Cosmopterix) - MONA 1983: [NEW in Pohl & Nanz (eds.) (2023)]; TL: [Haiti]: P[ort]. au Prince, 24.v.[18]94. asteria Walsingham, (Cosmopterix) nom. nud. Note: Manuscript name mentioned in Koster (2010). Taxonomic Notes: Cosmopterix abnormalis Walsingham, 1897 is now recognized within the North American fauna; specimens collected from Fort Lauderdale, FL in 2013 by James Hayden.
