Description/ Field Marks: |
See Clavijo (1990). |
Similar Species: |
- 5206 Diaphania infimalis (Guenée, 1854) - The type of infimalis is apparently lost and consequently cannot be compared to the type of modialis. There is currently no consistent way to separate the two "species", see Brau (2017), South. Lepid. News 39: 157-158. Collection data and images for both are shown on the species page for infimalis.
- Pinned specimens of related species. (Hint: select View by Region on the related species page.)

Synonymy: |
modialis (Dyar, 1912) (Glyphodes) - MONA 1983: 5205 |
Taxonomic Notes: |
Diaphania modialis (Dyar, 1912), originally described as a subspecies of 5206 Diaphania inifmalis (Guenée, 1854) was apparently first treated as a full species in Kimball (1965), p. 209, on recommendation by Capps. Whether modialis was ever formally elevated to species is unclear and some authors continue to treat it as a subspecies. The name is retained here as a full species following Munroe's treatment in Hodges et al. (1983) (Checklist). |
