Similar Species: Samea ecclesialis is not found north of Mexico and males lack large abdominal tufts. Samea multiplicalis Pinned specimens of related species. (Hint: select View by Region on the related species page.) Synonymy: castellalis Guenée, 1854 (Samea) ecclesialis of authors; not Guenée, 1854 (Samea) misappl. Taxonomic Notes: Samea castellalis Guenée, 1854, n. stat., is elevated from synonymy of [5150] Samea ecclesialisGuenée, 1854 in Landry (2016). There are currently no verified records of ecclesialis from north of Mexico.
