Description/
Field Marks:
"Head, body, antennae and all the wings black with a strong metallic steel-blue reflection. Underside of wings same as above. Expanse, 31mm." - Beutenmüller (1894).
Similar Species:
  • Triprocris cyanea Barnes & McDunnough, 1910 is smaller, WS: 23-25mm.
  • Triprocris smithsoniana (Clemens, 1860) is smaller and less metalic.
  • Pinned specimens of related species. (Hint: select View by Region on the related species page.)
Synonymy:
  • lustrans Beutenmüller, 1894 (Triprocris) - MONA 1983: 4620
      Type locality: Holotype: Colorado.
  • Taxonomic Notes: Triprocris lustrans Beutenmüller, 1894 was placed in the genus Harrisina in Hodges et al. (1983) (Checklist). Current generic placement follows Tarmann (1984), Entomofauna Supplement. 2(1): 38, and Tarmann & Drouet (2015), Jour. Lepid. Soc. 69(3), 209-235.
