Synonymy:
  • spiraeifoliana (Clemens, 1860) (Anchylopera) emend. - MONA 1983: 3365
  • spiraeifoliana (Walsingham, 1879) (Phoxopteryx)
  • spireaefoliana; (Clemens, 1860) (Anchylopera) orig. missp.; TL: (no type).
  • Taxonomic Notes: Ancylis spiraeifoliana (Clemens, 1860) is a justified emendation (Zeller 1875) of spireaefoliana (Clemens, 1860), an original misspelling intended to be based on the host plant Spiraea opulifolius. Gilligan & Brown (in Pohl & Nanz (eds.) 2023) erroneously listed spireaefoliana as the valid name with "spiraeifoliana (Walsingham, 1879)" as a synonym following Hodges et al. (1983) (Checklist). Per McDunnough (1955), it was in fact Zeller who proposed the replacement name. (Pohl & Nanz 2025)
