Distribution: UT, ID, WA, OR, CA. (BOLD, PNW Moths, LepSoc.). Description/ Field Marks: Forewings typically with posterior half of both am. and pm. lines poorly defined or absent. Similar Species: Sympistis meadiana (Morrison, 1875) typically has forewings with both am. and pm. lines reaching the inner margin. Pinned specimens of related species. Synonymy: orbicularis Barnes & McDunnough 1912 (Oxycnemis) - MONA 1983: 10040; Type locality: Eureka, UT Taxonomic Notes: Sympistis orbicularis: Formerly placed in the genus Oxycnemis.
